Daily Detox Plan or Diet

Daily Detox Plan

Wake up and get out of bed. :-)

Squeeze 1 lemon into a glass and add a thumbnail size of ginger. Fill the glass with filtered water at room temperature.

Take 5 minutes to pray or meditate.

Breakfast:
1 glass of vegetable juice of any kind or smoothie.
Suggestion: check out our juice menu that will be posted to FB page

Brunch (Between Breakfast and Lunch):
Caffeine-free detox tea

Lunch:
Small or medium serving of brown rice with raw or steamed vegetables of your choice from the grocery list. Season with gluten free soy sauce or Braggs Liquid Aminos, lemon juice and extra virgin olive oil, or 1 cup miso soup.

Mid-Afternoon:
Veggie drink of your choice to increase energy

Dinner:
1 glass of vegetable juice of any kind, smoothie or homemade vegetable soup.
Suggestion: check out our juice menu that will be posted to FB page

Bed Time:
Caffeine-free Detox tea

Substitutions:
Eat fresh vegetable soup in place of vegetable juice.
Experiment with vegetable juice throughout the day. Just make sure you are not adding too many fruits, because they increase sugar and acidity. It will also cause you to feel hungry sooner.

Helpful Hints:
1. It’s ok to eat raw veggies throughout the day if hungry.
2. A handful of raw almonds or walnuts are also ok to snack on.
3. A vegetable juice can be replaced with a homemade vegetable soup.
4. If you choose a smoothie make sure to use a blender.
Suggestion: ½ leafy green vegetable of choice, fruit of choice, 1-2 bananas or avocado (makes it creamy), ginger, lemon or parsley to increase taste. You will need at least 60% vegetable and no more than 40% fruit.
5. Take 3 detox baths for at least 20 minutes each during the 10 days. (see previous FB post for detox bath instructions)
6. Drink at least 4, 16 oz glasses of water each day.
Suggestion: fill up a big mug or cup and keep it with you throughout the day. Drink through a straw while driving.
7. Exercise by walking 30 minutes a day.
Suggestion: don’t park in the closest spot to the store/office/school.
Take the stairs instead of the elevator.
Dance around with your kids or actively play with them.

How to Start a Detox

Detoxing is an important part of eating clean - but before you start the detox process, it is a good idea to do a few things that will help you ease you body into the process.

Initially, it is a good idea to start decreasing caffeine, wheat and sugar intake.
  • Caffeine: To minimize withdrawal symptoms we will be reducing caffeine (coffee, soda, tea or any other caffeinated drink) by 50% a day starting on Sunday. That means if you usually have four cups of coffee in the morning, you would have two cups of coffee in the morning on Sunday, one cup on Monday and half a cup on Tuesday. Reducing intake by 50% a day is a safe and effective way to you wean your body off the caffeine.
  • Wheat:  Make sure to read the label on everything. Wheat is hidden in a lot of foods such as soy sauce, white bread, pasta, and various condiments. Keep an eye out for it and avoid it.
  • Sugar:  Reduce your sugar intake so that you are completely off of it by Thursday. Unlike coffee, sugar is difficult to quantify but reducing by 50% is a healthy way to reduce intake. Sugar is also hidden in a lot of processed food and canned food. Again, read labels so that you know what you are eating.
Your goal should be to eliminate all caffeine, wheat and sugar within 4-5 days.

As you get ready to detox, here are few other blogs that might be helpful to get yourself prepared both mentally and physically.
