Can IV Therapy Help You?

Vitamins, minerals, amino acids and other nutrients are essential to our daily health and the natural function of the cells;  however, with more and more processed foods, maintaining the correct levels can be difficult to do.  It is even more difficult if you are suffering with a cold, flu, fatigue or a more serious disease.  IV Therapy offers a very effective absorption of these nutrients into the body, helping your body heal and function properly.

What is IV Therapy?

Simply put, Intravenous therapy is when medicine is injected directly into the veins.   This procedure often works very quickly and successfully compared to oral medications. With the advancement in techniques, we are able to administer a larger amount of medicine which has allowed Doctors to utilize the procedure for many different disease treatments.  Especially in cases of Pneumonia and Diptheria.

Benefits of IV Therapy

IV Therapy is beneficial because the vitamins and minerals will provide the raw material necessary to promote proper cell function.  Poor digestion, food sensitivities, chronic inflammation, poor immune function or any sickness can cause a deficiency in the vitamins, minerals and nutrients needed.  When the deficiency is present, the cells are too weak to transport vitamins and minerals which can cause sickness - leading to a vicious cycle.  IV therapy can help to break the cycle and begin the cellular healing that is necessary.

IV Therapy for your Health

IV Therapy can be used for numerous conditions and can be tailored to fit the precise type and amount of nutrients necessary on a case by case basis.  It is impossible to get the nutrients orally that you will attain when utilizing IV therapy.   When you take vitamins and nutrients orally they are broken down in the stomach and liver before they are absorbed - which means some of them will pass through your system without being absorbed.    High doses of these vitaimins and nutrients will often cause gastrointestinal issues and diarrhea.  IV nutrients and minerals go directly to the bloodstream in their pure form and the body is able to tolerate and absorb them with little or no side effects.

For more information about IV Therapy, please contact our office to schedule a consult to see if IV Therapy is right for you!!

Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars

Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars

 INGREDIENTS:
2 ½ cups Pamela’s gluten free baking mix
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 ½ cups real butter melted and cooled slightly
1 cup  light brown sugar
1/2   sugar
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 cups chocolate chips (use your preference of semisweet, bittersweet, milk, white, peanut butter or your favorite)

DIRECTIONS:
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees. Adjust the oven rack to lower-middle position. Line a 9X13-inch baking pan with foil, letting the excess hang over the edges of the pan by about 1 inch so you can grab those edges and pull the brownies from the pan after they have baked.

Mix the flour, salt, and baking soda together in medium bowl; set aside. Whisk the melted butter and sugars in a large bowl until combined. Add the eggs and vanilla and mix well. Using a rubber spatula, fold the dry ingredients into the egg mixture until just combined; do not overmix. Fold in the chocolate chips and turn the batter into the prepared pan, smoothing the top with the spatula.

Bake until the top of the bars is light golden brown, slightly firm to the touch, and edges start pulling away from sides of pan, 35-45 minutes. Cool on a wire rack to room temperature. Remove the bars from the pan by lifting the foil overhang and transfer them to a cutting board. Cut into 2-inch squares and serve.

Good luck and let us know what you think!  We love to hear alterations to our recipes.

8 Easy Steps to Start your Gluten Free Diet

Starting a gluten free lifestyle can be overwhelming - in fact, many people that visit our office say the hardest thing about the gluten free diet is figuring out how to start! We suggest Baby Steps and here are a few tips that will help you get started.
  1. Find a list of gluten free items and highlight the items that you like.  There are many foods that are naturally gluten free and you probably already like many of them.  Take this list to the grocery store until you have the list memorized.
  2. Read labels - Many products will have the words "gluten free" on the outside packaging - however, many times you will need to look through the ingredients to really learn what is actually in your food
  3. Find restaurants that offer gluten free entrees - most restaurants will offer their menu online so that you can find one before you head out for dining.
  4. Do your research - there are all kinds of helpful books and magazines on eating gluten free.  They include recipes, tips and suggestions on how to take your current recipe and make it gluten free.
  5. Stick to REAL food when you begin.  Avoid processed and try to consume fruits, vegetables, meat and whole grains.
  6. Be Patient - Remember that not everything gluten free is going to be tasty (or at least not tasty in the way you are accustom).  It will take some time to adjust.
  7. Create a Support System - Follow Blogs, Twitter Feeds and LIKE facebook pages that promote gluten free living.  They will offer lots of tips that will keep you on track.  Get friends and family involved - this will be a great resource to help you with new recipes!
  8. Meet with a professional that understands gluten free diets and celiac disease.  They can offer tremendous help and support to make sure you are keeping your diet gluten free AND getting all the nutrients and vitamins you need to stay healthy.
The staff at PURE HEALTH would love the opportunity to meet with you and discuss your health needs and concerns.   If you are in the Tulsa area, please give us a call to set up an appointment.  If you are not a local resident, soon we will be offering new services that will allow us to meet with you from the comfort of your home.  LIKE our Facebook Page and Watch for announcements!!
